1 week in Bangkok, Thailand

Have you been to Thailand? If so, did you consider visiting or staying for at least a few days in Bangkok? How did you find Bangkok? Is it worth visiting for? These were my questions to my friends who have already gone to Thailand while I was plotting our itinerary. Many people told me not to visit Bangkok if I will visit Thailand because it is crowded, humid, trashy and the list goes on. However, with all its madness, I know Bangkok has something unique to offer. 





With only a week to spend in Thailand, squeezing in so many spots to visit within the country is definitely not enough. Therefore, we just decided to stay in Bangkok and visit its nearby neighboring areas. Our itinerary consists of night markets, few Thai temples, a day tour to a place that is only a few hours away from the main city and yes, a lot of shopping!!!





ITINERARY





Day 1
Arrival in Bangkok
Checked-in at The Base Sukhumvit 77 *booked via Airbnb.com*
Shopping at Chatuchak Market
Dinner at Chatuchak Market
Night market shopping (again) at Chatuchak Market









Day 2 
Early morning shopping at Pratunam Market *went here around 5:30AM*
Breakfast at Starbucks Pratunam after shopping
Back at The Base Sukhumvit to rest for a bit and to freshen up
Lunch at MBK Mall Foodcourt
Shopping for gadget-related stuff at MBK Mall
Shopping and Dinner at Ratchada Train Market 









Day 3
Breakfast at 7/11 *located inside the condominium building*
Wat Arun
Lunch at IconSiam
Shopping at Platinum Mall
Afternoon shopping at Pratunam Market
Bought foods for dinner at 7/11









Day 4
Breakfast at 7/11 *again! their Thai milk tea is a must-try!*
Whole Day Ayutthaya Tour *booked via Klook.com*
Visited Siam Paragon in the afternoon
Dinner at Ratchada Train Market









Day 5
Breakfast at 7/11 *tried the famous ham & cheese sandwich*
Grand Palace
Bought foods at 7/11 for lunch *Pad Thai and mixed fried rice*
Asiatique Riverfront
Chao Phraya Dinner River Cruise









Day 6
Breakfast at 7/11
Visited True Love at Neverland
Lunch at Platinum Mall
Last-minute shopping at Platinum Mall
Back at The Sukhumvit 77 and prepared for my sister's flight back to MNL
Head to Don Mueang International Airport
Dinner at the airport









Day 7
Last-minute shopping at Big C Extra On Nut *across The Base Sukhumvit 77*
Head to Suvarnabhumi Airport for an afternoon flight back to Doha, Qatar





Verdict
Overall, Bangkok exceeded my expectations. As the saying goes, do not judge the book by its cover. Yes, Bangkok is massive chaos but at the same time, it is very vibrant that you might get overwhelmed! There are so many interesting night markets to visit, delicious cuisine to try, quirky cafes that should not miss, be amazed by how busy the city is, and more. It is also a perfect spot if you are into shopping and cheap finds!

Al Zomorod Ramadan Tent at The St. Regis Doha

Every year, I always look forward to celebrating the holy month of Ramadan in Doha. What excites me the most is the great number of stunning Ramadan Tent pop-ups – that is traditionally found in many Muslim countries! During this time, Doha’s dining scene is always all out to give you the best of your Ramadan experience.  A few weeks ago, I got the privilege to attend Ramadan Ghabga in Al Zomorod Ramadan Tent at St. Regis. What is Ramadan Ghabga? It happens between Iftar and Suhoor, around 8:30 PM till 10-ish in the evening.
